How Much Does a 2,500 Square Foot Metal Building Cost?
Pre-engineered metal buildings are an option worth considering for new buildings of any size. The wide variety of available design solutions and accessories help ensure that your new building – big or small – is tailor made to your needs. A 2,500 square foot building, for example, could be made to fit any of the following uses:
- Workshop and Office Space
- Metal Home or Duplex
- Equipment Storage
- Manufacturing Facility
- Garage and Repair Shop
- And Much More!
Your buildings shape will largely be determined by the land it sits on and what it will be used for, and its important to understand how different widths and lengths can affect the price of your building – even as the eave height, roof type, and other design criteria stay the same. Here are a couple examples.
How much does a 25’ x 100’ metal building cost?
Logistic centers, garages, and manufacturing floors often benefit from a long and narrow floorplan. The narrow width means that your frames can be made lighter, but the extra length means more frame lines are necessary, and this causes the overall weight of your building to go up.
With that in mind, your average 25’ x 100’ metal building would cost between $43,080 and $46,880 before delivery – which works out to $17.24 to $18.76 per square foot over 2,500 square feet.

How much does a 50’ x 50’ metal building cost?
A square footprint usually translates to savings when it comes to metal buildings and this example is no exception. The shorter length means fewer frame lines and, though wider than the previous building, the frames do not need to be much heavier to accommodate the increased load.
This means that your standard 50’ x 50’ metal building would only cost between $40,100 and $43,440! That’s roughly $16.04 to $17.38 per square foot over 2,500 square feet!

Accessories and Insulation
One of the major benefits of buying metal building is their sheer design flexibility. Your metal building representative will be able to help you determine the exact width and length you need – down to the inch – along with any accessories you might need to realize your goals.
There are a variety of doors, windows, and aesthetic options to choose from, along with more utilitarian accessories such as ventilation and insulation. You could even have your building designed to accommodate a crane system or mezzanine (just be aware that the price will change accordingly).
Fiberglass blanket insulation, in particular, is highly recommended for any metal building project. Metal buildings are designed to stand the test of time, and insulation can help you save hundreds to thousands of dollars long term.
Not only that, the blanket system can be easily installed between your framing and sheeting or through the use of steel banding. The blankets will even be cut to fit your building in particular! Finally, a variety of thicknesses and thermal performances are available depending on your needs, but the popular standard is by far the 4” R-13 due to its value and ease of use.
The material needed for insulating the roof and walls of your 2,500 square foot metal building with 4” R-13 insulation would only cost between $3,940 and $4,330 depending on your building’s shape!
The prices above were determined in July of 2021 and are subject to change. Building Prices assume erection in a non-snow area with typical, low windspeeds and may vary depending on local code requirements, accessories, and any special design elements.
